The illustrations of German artist Kaethe Butcher are fearless in their depiction of sexuality and womanhood. They possess a wicked sense of humour and excellent line work. The level of contrast she achieves between light and dark, both in terms of subject matter and the execution, is quite frankly stunning.
Achille Devéria (1800 – 1857) – French painter and graphic artist. He mainly dealt with lithography and watercolors and, more rarely, with oil painting. He was a recognized illustrator, among his works were illustrations to “Faust” by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, “Don Quixote” by Miguel de Cervantes and the works of Jean de La Fontaine, Charles Perrault and Daniel Defoe. The artist’s fame brought pornographic artworks about the libertine message.
Richard Müller (1874-1954) was born in the city of Tschirnitz. Being an artistic soul from a young age, Müller attended the School of the Royal Saxon Porcelain Manufactory in Meissen. After graduating he moved to Dresden and even though he was still very young to be accepted into a university, he entered the Art Academy. At the age of 19, Müller started experimenting with the practice of etching something graphic artist and sculptor, Max Klinger. Müller became a professor at the Academy and amongst his students were George Grosz and Otto Dix.
Noma Bar (born in 1973) – Israeli graphic artist and illustrator. His works appear in newspapers, magazines, book covers, and advertising campaigns. He worked for The Guardian, The New York Times, Time Out London, The Observer, The Economist and Wallpaper. Illustrated book covers for Don DeLillo and Haruki Murakami; appeared in Google, Sony and Nike advertising campaigns.
